Ad-Hoc Activity for Chile

ATT OP II

Event date: 20/03/2019 - 21/03/2019

An Ad Hoc Activity will be organized on 20 and 21 March 2019 in Santiago and Valparaíso, Chile. This is the second ad hoc activity for Chile within the framework of ATT OP II; a first workshop was conducted in April 2018 in Santiago. Chile has signed the ATT in June 2013, and ratified it in May 2018.

With this activity, support will be provided to key personnel of the main Chilean agencies involved in the implementation of the ATT: The Ministry of Defence, the Chilean Intelligence Agency, the Central Customs Agency and other executive agencies. Awareness will be raised among the participants about the ATT, its requirements and upcoming steps of the implementation in Chile such as the establishment of control lists and corresponding licensing procedures. Moreover, the respective role in strategic trade controls of regulating and licensing agencies on the one hand, and customs and other executive agencies will be highlighted. Another important issue on the agenda is the importance of inter-agency cooperation.

The activities will be supported by a team of four ATT experts from Spain, Mexico and Uruguay.
